Standing atop 308 Colony Street in downtown Winnipeg, I was inspired by Solara Flats, a 21-storey development set to become Canada's tallest net-zero carbon residential building.
This $77 million project will offer 214 units, with 86 designated as affordable housing. Over 20% of the suites are planned to be barrier-free or adaptable, ensuring accessibility for all residents. Amenities like an outdoor greenspace terrace, gym, lounge, and laundry facilities aim to foster of community among its diverse inhabitants.
Our role in financing this groundbreaking development fills us with immense pride. Supporting a project that addresses the pressing need for affordable housing while exemplifying environmental stewardship aligns with our commitment to sustainable urban development.
This initiate reflects a collaborative effort among stakeholders, including The University of Winnipeg Community Renewal Corporation 2.0 and Lotus Holdings Winnipeg, dedicated creating inclusive urban spaces. We extend our deepest thanks to the UWCRC for their leadership and unwavering commitment to community renewal.
Envisioning future residents - families, students, professionals - benefiting from affordable, accessible and sustainable living spaces is truly rewarding. Proximity to cultural landmarks like the Winnipeg Art Gallery and educational institutions such as The University of Winnipeg will provide residents with unparalleled access to the city's vibrant cultural and academic life.
Beyond housing, this development contributes to the revitalization of downtown Winnipeg, promoting economic growth and enhancing the urban landscape. Integrating commercial spaces on the ground floor will create opportunities for local businesses, enriching the community fabric.
Our participation underscores our commitment to projects that embody innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility. We are previleged to play a role in this transformative development and look forward to witnessing its positive impact on the Winnipeg community.
